Ma a quel tempo un gruppo di persone lavorava attorno ad una semplice e geniale intuizione: il Propeller, sistema dinamico per il movimento del sistema d’inserzione della trama a nastri e pinze, basato sul principio di una vite con elica a passo variabile.

PropellerLa storia della Vamatex coincide proprio con quella del Propeller: una storia fatta di continui successi, caratterizzata da un’ascesa inarrestabile; una storia fatta di idee, di uomini e della loro volontà di credere nel proprio lavoro.

Non fu semplice tradurre un’idea in progetto esecutivo e poi in processo produttivo industriale ma, forti dell’entusiasmo di giovani progettisti e della consapevolezza e tenacia dei fondatori, in poco tempo fu realizzato il primo telaio Vamatex, il C201.

Vamatex si presentò al mercato con una macchina grigia e nera, che pesava circa la metà di altri telai dell’epoca, con la chiara intenzione di dimostrare che l’alta tecnologia non necessariamente deve essere pesante e che la concretezza di un telaio, nato per produrre, va ben al di là del suo aspetto.

Il quesito con cui i potenziali utilizzatori accoglievano chi gli presentava il nuovo telaio era: “Ma durerà?”

La risposta è nella storia della Vamatex, segnata da tappe importanti come il 1975, l’anno della prima partecipazione ad ITMA (la più importante fiera mondiale del settore) a Milano e il 1976, quello del primo telaio venduto all’estero.

Seguono poi il 1979 dove ITMA di Hannover conferma lo sviluppo dell’azienda in termini di fatturato, numero di dipendenti, organizzazione e diffusione mondiale (oltre 50 paesi) e il 1981, l’anno in cui vengono per la prima volta superate le 1000 unità prodotte in un solo anno.

L’era del P1001, la prima macchina per tessere a pinza al mondo che gira in tessitura ad oltre 450 colpi al minuto ha inizio nel 1989.

Il passaggio sotto la gestione del gruppo Radici (Miro Radici diventa Amministratore Unico nel 1992) da un forte impulso all’attività dell’azienda che rapidamente mette a punto diverse innovazioni quali il nuovo sistema elettronico di controllo SIMOD e il P1001es; seguono il telaio a pinza positiva 9000 pluses e l’SP 1151es per la spugna a completare la gamma di prodotti e a confermare la scelta strategica di concentrarsi nella produzione di macchine a pinza.

La fase ascendente della parabola Vamatex prosegue con il progetto k2000 che battezza nel 1997 il nuovo telaio Leonardo, il telaio del terzo millennio, e due anni dopo il Leonardo FTS, mentre è del 2000 l’introduzione del nuovo telaio spugna Leonardo DynaTerry, che si sta già rivelando un successo.

It wasn’t an easy matter to turn the idea into a project and then an industrial production process, but drawing on the enthusiasm of the young designers and the know how and tenacity of the founding partners, the first Vamatex loom – the C201 – was soon built.

Vamatex offered a grey and black machine weighing about half that of the looms produced by the competition. A clear demonstration that high technology isn’t necessarily heavy and that the soundness of a loom, born to produce, goes way beyond its look.

“But will it last?” That was the question potential users nearly always asked at the end of each presentation.

The answer is found in Vamatex’s story, marked by important milestones, such as in 1975, when it first took part in ITMA (the world’s most important textile machinery fair) in Milan, and in1976, they year that the first loom was sold abroad.

Next came the Hannover ITMA in 1979 with confirmation of the development of the company in terms of turnover, employee numbers, organisation and world standing (present in more than 50 countries). Then there was 1981, the year in which Vamatex first passed the 1000 units produced in a year mark.

The era of the P1001, the world’s first rapier weaving machine that could work at more than 450 picks a minute in the textile mill, started in 1989.

The passage under the management of the Radici Group (Miro Radici became the Managing Director in 1992) provided a great stimulus for the business, resulting in several innovations in a short space of time. These included the new SIMOD electronic control system and the P1001es; followed by 9000 pluses positive rapier machine and the SP 1151es terry loom completing the product range and confirming the company’s strategic decision to concentrate on the production of rapier machines.

Vamatex’s growth curve continues upwards with the K2000 project with the appearance in 1997 of the new Leonardo loom – the loom of the third millennium – and then two years later came the Leonardo FTS, while the year 2000 saw the introduction of the new terry loom, the Leonardo DynaTerry, which is already proving itself to be a great success.

The Somet Alpha is a modern, reliable and versatile rapier loom. Meanwhile, the K88 is an improvement over the famous Vamatex P1001 loom, and features a very high investment-performance relation, versatility and low running costs. The Leonardo featured the Hi Drive high drive motor, which is a new loom drive system with electronically controlled drive.

Somet Thema Super Excel HTP R/S2300: Equipped with a Fimtextile RD3020 dobby, highly sensitive whip roll and independent electronic selvedge, this rapier loom was weaving an apparel fabric of polyester warp and viscose/boucle weft at 520 rpm.

Vamatex Leonardo Dyna Terry R/52600: Equipped with a Staubli LX1600 jacquard (3,072 hooks), Staubli harnesses and dynamic pile formation movement, the loom was weaving terry towels at 460 rpm.

Vamatex Leonardo FTS R/ S 2300: Equipped with a Staubli 2670 dobby, independent electronic selvedge and guide free transfer system, the loom was weaving. a nylon technical apparel fabric at 520 rpm.

Somet Thema Super Excel, 1,900 mm width: Equipped with a Staubli CX 880 jacquard (2,688 hooks), Staubli harness, independent electronic selvedge, 12-color electronic selvedge and gripper floating guide, this looms was weaving a furnishing fabric at 580 rpm.

Somet Mythos, 1,900 mm width: Equipped with a Staubli 2871 Bobby, DRC4 quick hook-up, electronic leno drive, inverter, automatic filling repair and waste compactor, this air-jet loom was weaving an apparel fabric at 750 rpm.
